SDHI fungicide seed treatment gains approval in wheat

The first seed dressing for wheat based on the new generation of SDHI fungicides has been approved for the UK.

It contains the new SDHI fungicide, sedaxane, together with the well-known seed treatment active, fludioxonil.

The UK approval is for use on seed of winter wheat, winter triticale, winter rye and spring oats.

It marks the first UK registration for Syngenta’s SDHI seed treatment active ingredient, sedaxane, says Mark Bullen, seeds and seedcare campaign manager for Syngenta.

“The key benefit of this new seed treatment technology is that trials have not only shown outstanding control of diseases that reduce crop establishment, but also improvements in crop-rooting power,” explains Mr Bullen.

The SDHI component is particularly effective in controlling microdochium and rhizoctonia diseases.
