Slow going in Hants
Mike Clay from Hampshire Grain said things were going very slowly this year in the south. “Not much has been cut for three days.”
Ninety percent of winter barley had been cut in the area, with Pearl mostly coming through. The yields averaged under 7.5t/ha with high nitrogen levels.
About 2500 tonnes of oilseed rape had been cut in Hampshire. Winner and Expert yielded above average at over 3.75t/ha.
Mr Clay added: “It’s too early to tell how things are going this year. There are some nice crops out there so I just hope it doesn’t rain for too long.”
