Soissons nearly finished for this farmer
Mr Willett combined 18ha (45 acres) of Soissons second wheat earlier this week.
“We grow Soissons because it’s early maturing, but still has a good yield for the gravely land we grow it on.
“We also get the same prices for Soissons as we do for Hereward.”
So far Mr Willett‘s wheat has been yielding 7.4 t/ha (3 t/acre) at 13.5% moisture.
“It‘s not too bad at all,” he said.
Mr Willett has also finished harvesting his pearl winter barley at 7.7 t/ha (3.1 t/acre) with 15% moisture.
“The yield is really good for the type of land it’s on.”
