SU sequence go ahead
ANOTHER SULFONYLUREA herbicide has been added to the list of ALS inhibitors approved for use with grassweed killer Atlantis (mesosulfuron-methyl + iodosulfuron-methyl-sodium) in wheat.
DuPont’s Quantum SX (tribenuron-methyl) is now on the list and will broaden weed control options for growers, the firm said.
The sequence will be useful for growers looking to control more difficult broadleaved weeds such as creeping thistles, rosebay willow herb and cranesbill late this season, says DuPont’s herbicide manager Neil Morey.
But growers must abide by Atlantis’ product label, which is the more restrictive, when considering which following crop to plant, he stressed.
DuPont is still assessing the market’s requirements for sequences with other broadleaved weed sulfonylurea products in their range, but as yet no other sequence has been applied for, according to technical manager Steve Cranwell.
“We’re still waiting for a decision from Pesticides Safety Directorate for the sequence with [the grassweed sulfonylurea herbicide] Lexus.”
