The factory opening dates for the coming sugar beet campaign have been agreed by British Sugar and the National Farmers Union today (22 August).

Newark and Wissington factories will be first to open on 18 September 2006, followed by Bury St Edmunds on 3 October and Allscott, Cantley and York opening on 5 October.

“British Sugar and the NFU wanted to give growers and hauliers as much notice as possible, to give them the opportunity to plan their harvest,” commented British Sugar’s head of agricultural operations, Colm McKay.
