Vion launches ‘Farm to Fork’ smartphone app
Consumers equipped with smartphones will now be able to select a cut of meat in the supermarket and search through more than 80 different recipe choices for how to prepare it, encouraging the consumption of a variety of different cuts.
The “Farm to Fork” app has been developed by the Vion Food Group and provides recipes for pork, beef, lamb and chicken and is part of a broader campaign by the company to promote British meat.
The app has an easily browsable interface and photographs alongside each dish as well as a function to start a shopping list based on recipes chosen.
“As a leading meat and poultry processor it is our responsibility to promote the quality and versatility of British meat so that customers can make more informed and confident purchasing and cooking decisions,” said Ton Christiannse, VION Food UK CEO.
“By providing the tools to get people more creative in the kitchen, we hope they will be encouraged to try something new, back British farmers and help the move towards a more sustainable future for our food supply systems.”
The app is available now on iTunes as a free download with versions for Blackberry and Android operating systems, as well as new content and seasonal recipe information, to come later this year.
