Wheat harvest on hold in Worcestershire

Rain continued to delay harvest at Andrew Goodman’s Walgrove Farm, Worcester. However, he said: “So far, the wheat has progressed reasonably well.”

He started cutting Nijinsky and Hereward winter wheat last Wednesday.

The 48ha (120 acres) of Nijinsky yielded 7.5t/ha (3 t/acre) at 13-15% moisture and will go for feed.

Hereward yielded the same across 12ha (30 acres), cut at 14% last Saturday (11 August).

Mr Goodman is waiting for 32ha (80 acres) of Syncro spring beans and 25.6ha (64 acres) of Waggon spring barley, which he hoped would yield 6.2-6.9 t/ha (2.5- 2.75 t/acre).
