Wheat markets in harvest limbo
WHEAT MARKETS remain in limbo awaiting harvest results.
“New crop wheat is slow in coming forward and short-term there could be an increase in demand and limited supply,” said Martin Parry, pool trader at Centaur Grain.
Feed wheat is now worth about £58-60/t ex-farm, with a £4/t carry into November.
Heavy rain across central England had caused some concerns over sprouting in Hereward in particular, he added.
Group One premiums had widened slightly to £12-£14/t. “I‘d be slightly reluctant to sell it at less at the moment.”
The weather forecast promises more uncertainty, with sunshine and showers and the odd heavy thunderstorm in the offing over the next fortnight.
