World’s biggest forage harvester

Krone has introduced what its claims to be the world’s biggest forage harvester.

The self-propelled Big X 1000 is fitted with two V6 Daimler-Chrysler engines delivering a maximum of 980hp.

Prototypes of the “over 200,000” machine are already working with 14-row maize headers in California this year.

Roadwork and manoeuvring needs only one of the engines, the second coming into play driving the chopper drum during harvesting.

Krone will also add smaller 500hp and 650hp harvesters to its line up this autumn.
