Mole Valley reports record turnover

Agricultural supply co-operative Mole Valley Farmers reported a record turnover of £400.7m for the year ending 30 September 2013 – it’s second record year in a row.


The farmer owned co-operative increased turnover by 14.36% compared with the previous year and increased profits before tax to £5.7m. This enabled the company to pay £450,000 in rebates to shareholders, an increase of 6% on the previous year.


Mole Valley’s feed businesses performed especially well, with Mole Valley Feeds increasing its turnover by 24.6% to £154.8m, and Three Counties Feed business seeing an increased turnover of 17.8% to £26.4m. The group sold more than 620,000t of feed.


During 2013 Mole Valley expanded, including the acquisition of north east farming business Farmway and the development of a new moist feed blending site and a new grain processing site, both in partnership with existing farming members.


Mole Valley also includes SCATS Countrystores, Mole County Stores, Cox & Robinson, Bridgmans, Mole Energy, and two large animal veterinary practices. The co-operative now has 7,700 farmer shareholders, 22,000 country members and more than 60,000 account holders. It was established in 1960 by a small group of farmers in South Molton, Devon.
