Agrifirm aquires James & Son

Feed company James & Son has been taken over by Dutch co-products business Agrifirm.

The 160 year-old Northamptonshire company, which is the UK’s largest supplier of moist animal feeds, will become part of Agrifirm Co-products BV, the division of the Agrifirm Group which concentrates on co-product feed activities.

“James & Son is seeing small but sustained growth and this acquisition will guarantee the future of the business in a competitive market place,” said Tom Hall, commercial manager at James & Son.

“The approach to the business will not change and the culture of service for suppliers and value to customers will stay the same. In fact, there will be no noticeable difference for stakeholders other than that our already broad base of experience will get bigger as we will have access to more research and development allowing us to get better at what we do.”

The business will continue to trade as James & Son and staff will remain in place, said a statement from the company.

James & Son has an annual turnover of ÂŁ14m and 43 employees.

Agrifirm Co-products trades in six European countries under the name Bonda and is one of the six divisions of the Agrifirm Group.
