Arla foods increases milk prices

Arla Foods UK has increased its milk price by 2p/litre backdated to 16 September.
This will take the processor’s standard litre to 22.5p/litre. Prices are set to rise to 25p/litre from the beginning of October.
Hanne Sondergaard, director of milk procurement, said: “In our original letter to members in August we said we would continue to negotiate with our retail customers and we are delighted to be able to pass back some of this money two weeks earlier than expected.”
Jonathan Ovens of the Arla Foods Milk Partnership, which supplies most of the firm’s milk, said: “Receiving this extra 2p/litre two weeks earlier than anticipated will be welcomed by our members.”
