Assurance scheme for milk transport
A new assurance scheme covering the transportation of milk from the farm gate to dairy processors has been launched this week.
The Dairy Transport Assurance Scheme was developed by Dairy UK and covers sub-contractors, vehicle hygiene, site requirements, HACCP, personnel and training, complaints procedures and record keeping.
Dairy UK says the scheme will fill the gap between Assured Dairy Farms standards and the British Retail Consortium standards, which cover milk processing and beyond.
“This new scheme means that industry customers and consumers can be confident that all stages of the supply chain are operated and inspected to the highest standards,” Jim Begg, Dairy UK director general said.
