Bentham & District Farmers’ Auction Mart, Lancs
The annual Bentham ‘Ram-Page’ attracted 401 rams on Saturday (17 August), with good quality commercial rams of all breeds in strong demand. Average prices for most categories were up on last year, with 85% clearance.
A purebred Beltex shearling topped the day, selling for £1600, with all Beltex shearlings averaging £464. Suffolk and crossbred shearlings both reached £1000, and averaged £503 and £441, respectively.
Texel shearlings sold to £900 and averaged £407, with ram lambs reaching £340 and settling at £294. Charollais shearlings reached £580 and averaged £309, while ram lambs averaged £238 and topped at £400 apiece (pictured).
