Bidding hits 1020gns for Holstein club champion

KIRKBRIDE CLOUSEAU Vaakje, a Summershade Inquirer daughter from J and Z Kirk’s herd at Dumfries, topped the trade at 1550gns at the Border and Lakeland Holstein Club’s show and sale at Carlisle.


This freshly calved heifer is from the Stardale herd’s renowned Vaakje family and was bought for the Maridale herd of M Ridsdale and Son, Penrith.


The Crichel Principal-sired Holmeden H Principal Tilly made 1120gns for J Hodgson, Carlisle. She hails from the Tilly family from Bowerchalke and was bought by local dairy farmers W and K Harrington.


The championship was taken by Holmland Romario Amelia from S Bell’s herd at Penrith. She realised 1020gns to C Cochrane, Kilmarnock.


Averages: 13 cows 934 and 52 heifers 981 (Harrison and Hetherington).


The Elmbury Friesian and Holstein herd was dispersed for Roger Troughton, Tewkesbury, and reached a top of 1800gns for the served heifer Payhembury Export Echo.


Milking cattle reached 1150gns for a second-calver by Elmbury Saint taken by R Davies, Sandhurst, Glos, with dry cows selling to 1100gns for a Boulet Charles daughter.


Averages: 177 cows 726 and 41 served heifers 684 (Williams Parry Richards).
