Bristol Livestock centre returns to pedigree

BRISTOL LIVESTOCK sales centre will continue as a venue for pedigree livestock auctions.

Contradicting reports that the site had shut its doors, owner Keith Sherrell is inviting pedigree auctioneers and breed societies back to Washingpool Farm, close to the M4/M5 interchange.

“We have already received bookings from the Zwartbles, South Devon and Simmental breed societies,” he said.

Pedigree dairy auctioneer Norton & Brooksbank has also pegged two sales this autumn.

But the centre will no longer operate as a commercial livestock market, said Mr Sherrell.

Negoatiations with Premier Livestock Auctions had broken down irretrievably and auctioneer Harrison & Hetherington has also left.

Premier Livestock auctioneer Peter Kingwill said: “We’re devastated.  We felt it was working well.”
