Agricultural platform launched to monetise on-farm data

A digital marketplace designed to generate an income from on-farm data is set to launch nationwide from 1 September, with landowners able to sell data confidentially while retaining ownership.
The platform, the National Agency for Data in Agriculture (Nasda UK), will be delivered by membership organisation Trinity Natural Capital Pro Council and will collate aggregated industry data from farm businesses to sell on to third-party buyers.
Together with public and private sector buyers, farm businesses will be able to access the anonymised pool of data in order to gain valuable insights.

Its founders says the platform is now 80% complete and it is currently consulting with farmers to determine which data insights would be most useful to help inform the decision-making process on farm.
A spokesman said: “Farm businesses will engage through Nasda UK’s cloud-based smart digital platform, designed to be intuitive, accessible, and built with farmers’ needs at its core.
“We anticipate interest from a broad range of stakeholders across the agricultural industry, including both public and private sector organisations.
“Importantly, farmers themselves will also benefit as users of the aggregated data, gaining access to valuable insights and national trends.”
The platform aligns with recognised UK and international data standards and either 95% or 100% of any revenue earned from the data will be returned to the farm business.
