Free farm business advice in Devon and Somerset

West Country farmers are being offered up to three hours of free advice from a farm consultant under a new initiative run by Devon County Council.

Under the Thrive service, farmers with a holding in either Devon or Somerset can receive one-to-one advice specific to their needs from consultants specialising in agriculture.

That advice could cover everything from diversification and how to hand over the business to the next generation, cost cutting and improving yields.

“It will be very much tailored to what the farmer wants,’’ said a Thrive spokesperson.

The advice, funded by the European Regional Development Fund, can be delivered face-to-face on-farm or remotely.

There are also a number of workshops that farmers can sign up to, including those offering guidance around farm succession and creating a successful funding application.

Farmers will need to provide a postcode and Unique Taxpayer Reference number when applying to team@businessinfopoint.co.uk or by calling 0800 592 872.
