Mother killed in farm quad bike crash

A 60-year-old woman has died following a quad bike accident on farmland in East Sussex.

The woman, named locally as Joyce Lewis, died after the bike overturned and trapped her beneath it.

Police, paramedics and an air ambulance were called to land near Keeper’s Cottage, Danehill, at about 8pm on Sunday (19 July).

But Mrs Lewis could not be saved and she died at the scene from her injuries.

A popular figure in her community, Mrs Lewis ran Balcombe Game Shop for many years.

She leaves behind her husband, Johnny Lewis, former gamekeeper for the Balcombe Estate, and their three children, Stephen, Joanne and Gemma.
