Carr’s Billington acquires Agri-Lloyd and Farmsense
© Tim Scrivener Carr’s Billington has acquired livestock nutrition business Agri-Lloyd and animal health specialist Farmsense from Tangerine Holdings, strengthening its livestock offering and expanding its range of products and advice for farmers.
The acquisition, announced on 21 October, supports Carr’s Billington’s growth strategy and strengthens its presence across the UK, Ireland and continental Europe.

Established in 1984, Agri-Lloyd develops and manufactures livestock nutritional products for farmers across the UK and Ireland.
Farmsense, founded in 1991, specialises in animal health and nutrition, with a particular focus on alternatives to traditional antibiotic use.
Both businesses have established agricultural customer bases and family-business backgrounds.
Debbie Hewison, managing director of Carr’s Billington, said the acquisitions were “a good strategic fit” and would help the group “support farmers with valuable products, expertise and practical advice”.
“By bringing these businesses together, we will be able to share specialist knowledge, experience and best practice, creating new opportunities for innovation and strengthening the support we provide to farmers,” she said.
Carr’s Billington has previously acquired established agricultural businesses, including Scottish feed blends company L.S. Smellie.
Normal service
The company said the acquisitions would provide continuity for customers, with existing products, services, contacts and day-to-day operations remaining unchanged.
Agri-Lloyd will continue to operate independently under its existing leadership, with divisional director James Ryall retaining responsibility for sales, manufacturing operations at Leominster, England, and the warehouse in Dublin, Ireland.
Customer and sales representatives will continue to work with their existing contacts.
The transaction covers only the Agri-Lloyd and Farmsense businesses and does not affect ownership or day-to-day operations across the wider Carr’s Billington or Billington Group businesses.
