Choice of land in Shropshire

Those looking to buy or expand in Shropshire market will have several larger parcels of land to view over the next few weeks.

In the south of the county near Much Wenlock, Berrys is selling 114.9ha (284 acres) of arable and pasture land at Upper Hill Farm, Hughley with woodland and a fishing pool.

This and 95.24ha (235.34 acres) of arable and pasture land at nearby Blakeway Farm, Harley carry a guide price of ÂŁ7,500/acre. Both parcels are being sold on behalf of a farming company which has bought land elsewhere. The Blakeway Farm land includes a modern building.

Predominant soil type at both locations is Clifton, a slowly permeable reddish fine loam over clay. The Upper Hill Farm land includes areas of ancient woodland and a fishing pool stocked with rainbow trout. The arable land has been block cropped in recent years and is in winter wheat following beans in 2011.

The Blakeway Farm land produced an average winter wheat crop of 12t/ha in 2011, has an effective field drainage system and includes a steel frame general purpose building with stone floor. There is also a borehole water supply.

Both sales include SPS entitlements and Entry Level Stewardship agreements expiring in September 2015. (Berrys 01743 271697)
