Deadline looms for NFU members to have a say on farm assurance

NFU members have until Tuesday 21 May to have their say on the future of farm assurance as part of the industry’s independent review of assurance schemes.
Farmers are encouraged to complete the short survey to help inform the NFU’s response to the industry-wide review of farm assurance.
The “back-to-basics” review hopes to capture as many views from all farming sectors to ensure assurance schemes – including Red Tractor – are fit for purpose and deliver for their members.

The NFU states: “We want to listen to our members and, together, ensure farm assurance delivers for farmers and growers.”
To fill in the survey, users will need to log in to the NFU portal using their membership number and password.
More than one survey can be completed per farm holding. All responses provided will be aggregated and analysed anonymously.
The NFU is working with the other UK farming unions – NFU Cymru, NFU Scotland and the Ulster Farmers’ Union – as well as the AHDB to carry out the industry-wide assurance review.
It aims to seek feedback from farmers, crofters and growers about farm assurance schemes with a focus on repurposing schemes.
The NFU said: “By working with our members we can shape a more transparent, effective and resilient farm assurance system that supports farmers, while instilling confidence in British consumers that their food is produced to the highest standards.”
