Time running out to complete sheep records in Wales

Farmers in Wales must complete their annual sheep and goat inventory a month earlier this year as the country brings its deadline in line with England’s.

For the first year, the official Sheep and Goat Annual Inventory forms must be submitted by 31 December, instead of January.

It is a legal requirement to complete this form and include the number of sheep and goats owned by the keeper on 1 December 2024.

The county parish holding (CPH) number where the animals were located on this date, including common land and temporary CPHs, must be entered on the form.

NFU Cymru Livestock Board chairman Rob Lewis urged farmers to prioritise this job given the short timeframe left.

For sheep and goat keepers registered with EIDCymru, the inventory is available on their account at eidcymru.org.

Keepers not registered with EIDCymru can complete the inventory on the EIDCymru online portal.
