Consumers seek out British Lion products

A study of shopping habits has revealed that consumers are increasingly attracted to egg products displaying the British Lion logo on pack, not just on shell eggs.
Almost half of shoppers questioned at a well-known multiple retailer over a two-month period said they were more likely to buy an egg sandwich that displayed the British Lion logo on pack.
When asked what seeing this mark meant to them, more than 90% of the respondents agreed that “it shows that the egg is good quality”. And, when questioned about price, more than 80% said that they would be willing to pay an additional 2p on the current price if the Lion Mark was present. Almost a third said they were prepared to pay an additional 10p for the sandwich.
“Consumers expect the eggs in products such as sandwiches to be British and there is no reason why that should not be the case,” said Clive Frampton, spokesman for British Lion egg products. “Many retailers and food manufacturers already specify Lion egg products to ensure food safety and quality, but there is no doubting that it should be more widespread.”
