Correction- Cranswick
Correction: Cranswick
Last week we reported that a farming company targeted by animal welfare activists was owned by food giant Cranswick (Farmers Weekly, 27 April, 2012). This is not the case.
The pig units at the centre of the allegations are both owned by East Anglian Pigs Limited, an independent company that supplies pigs to Cranswick (Norfolk) along with other meat processors. Cranswick do not own or operate any pig units.
Cranswick does not tolerate cruelty to any animal, and has said the images highlighted in the video are completely unacceptable and have no place on any farm. If the allegations are proven, it will also support any resulting prosecution.
Farmers Weekly would like to apologise for this error.
