Dairy farmers stage milk price protests across the country
DAIRY FARMERS have blockaded 10 milk depots in protest at the fact that only a fraction of recent increases in the retail price of milk have been passed back to producers.
Scottish farmers are understood to staged protests at eight depots owned by First Milk, Robert Wiseman Dairies, Milk Link and Sorn Milk.
Similar protests organised by Farmers For Action were held at two Arla depots in England in the early hours of Thursday morning (Aug 4).
FFA chairman David Handley said he estimated that 200 producers had attended the demonstrations in England and warned that more protests would follow.
