Dumfries dairy and mixed farming chance

South-west Scotland has seen growing interest in its farmland and the launch of Airyhemming offers dairy and mixed farming opportunities.

With almost 448 acres near Stranraer in Dumfries & Galloway, the gulfstream allows early and late grass production on this holding, which has cubicles for 180 milking cows, a 15-point herringbone parlour and extensive loose housing.

There are two three-bedroom cottages as well as the four-bedroom farmhouse, which offered diversification or tourism opportunities, said agent Shirley Dodd of H&H Land and Property

The farm is available as a whole or in three lots with an overall guide price of £2.9m. The first lot includes the houses and almost 215 acres of silage, grazing or ploughable land. Lot 2 has 57 acres of ground, most of this is good arable land, while the third lot is 163 acres of good improved pasture interspersed with shelter belts.

The dairy unit was built in 2002 and the sale includes fishing and shooting rights. Milk quota is included but single farm payment entitlements are not. (H&H Land and Property 01228 406 260)
