Enticing ideas at this year’s Royal Show

This year’s Royal Show has several innovative ideas to entice visitors, including groundbreaking conservation ideas and a new championship for sheep breeders.

Cambridgeshire farmer Dan Bull, of Croxton Park, has pioneered an unconventional way of using pigs to clear ground for shooting purposes.

“Not only do they clear weeds, but they also achieve significant pay-back in terms of conservation.”

The new Smallholder area at the Royal Show, which takes place at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, from 2-5 July 2006, will recreate a woodland environment to demonstrate the concept.

Also new to the show is the Group of Three interbreed title in the sheep section.

Worcestershire sheep breeders Derrick Daffurn and daughter Jennifer Curtis will be generously sponsoring the new class.
