Help for dairy diversification

DAIRY FARMERS looking to diversify into milk processing could find some useful sources of funding for research and development in a new guide from Dairy UK.

Information manager Ian Wakeling said the guide was mainly targeted at existing processing businesses but could also apply to those starting up.

For those thinking specifically of producing ice cream, Surrey-based Leatherhead Food International is running a one-day introductory course on Sept 14.

Senior training executive Rachel Wilson said the organisation always tried to aim its course at small businesses starting up.
