Injuries are not reported
Almost 90% of Welsh farmers who are involved in work related accidents do not inform the Health and Safety Executive.
Replies to extra questions added to the survey carried out most years by the Farmers Union of Wales showed that 40%
of those quizzed had suffered an injury, but only about 10% had filed a report.
Most claimed that the minor nature of the incident made a report unnecessary, but one-quarter blamed the bureaucracy of the reporting system.
Three-quarters of the farmers surveyed claimed they would be willing to report accidents through a third party like the FUW.
