Meadow Foods announces January price rise

Dairy producers supplying Meadow Foods will receive a 1p/litre increase from 1 January 2013 bringing the standard litre price up to 30p/litre.

The price increase will be added to the flat rate element of Meadow’s pricing to ensure all of the company’s 530 producers will receive it.

“The new price reflects the overall increase the company has received back from the market, allowing us to pass on the benefits directly to our own milk producers in a simple straight forward way so all producers benefit,” said executive chairman Simon Chantler.

“We appreciate that milk production is tough at the moment but we will continue to listen to our farmers and push our customers for further increases to ensure supply.”

Today’s price increase announcement follows on from news last week that the company plans to expand its milk processing and butter production facility in Chester – this will result in the company expanding its producer base by up to 500m litres.

This follows on from milk price increases announced by First Milk and Dairy Crest last week.
