Milk Link to increase butter processing

Milk Link, the UK’s largest cheese producer, is to invest more than £350,000 in its Lockerbie processing plant to increase its output of butter, cream and spreads.
The addition of an extra line at Lockerbie Creamery will increase production capacity from 8000 to more than 10,000 tonnes and will increase the range of butters on offer from the farmer-owned business. Much of this extra output will go into the foodservice and catering industries, while Lockerbie-branded butter is seeing increasing success as a local product with retailers across Scotland.
Milk Link sees the investment in new products as a way of widening the market for its supplier-owners.
