NFU invests to connect with grassroot members
The NFU is to make a £500,000 investment in improving the connection between headquarters and grass-roots members. The move follows a major review of the union’s regional operations.
NFU president Peter Kendall said: “The review of our regional activities identified the need for the organisation to get closer to its members and as a result we have decided to increase the staff resource in our regions and to focus more of our work at a county level.
“Our council meeting on 25 June overwhelmingly supported the proposed changes and the additional expenditure of £500,000.
“The review identified that NFU members value local engagement with MPs, county councils, local authorities, the police and other local stakeholders. This additional resource will enable us to strengthen our work in this area.”
As a result of the agreement, the NFU has now started a formal consultation process with its staff on the proposed changes to its staffing structure.
