BPS 2019 payment rates confirmed

The 2019 Basic Payment Scheme (BPS) cash rates have been confirmed by the Rural Payments Agency (RPA).

These were published on 5 November following confirmation of the exchange rate for this year’s payments and calculation of how many entitlements have been claimed in total for 2019.

Under BPS, farmers need to hold an entitlement for every hectare of eligible land on which they claim.

The RPA said it was now focusing on preparing payments so these are ready to land in bank accounts when the payment window opens on 1 December.

BPS, greening and the young farmer payment will continue to operate for the 2020 scheme year.

The exchange rate for this year’s payments is €1 = £0.89092.

The 2019 rate, including the greening element, will be:

  • Non-SDA (severely disadvantaged areas) land: £232.84/ha
  • SDA land: £231.15/ha
  • Moorland: £63.42/ha
