Reckon you’re ready for SMP?
THE NATIONAL Farmers Union is encouraging visitors to Cereals 2004 to find out how the Single Farm Payment will affect them.
Farmers will be able to try out the Union‘s new Ready Reckoner, which calculates an approximate SFP value, based on receipts during the reference period.
It gives growers an idea of how it will change over the transitional period from historic receipts to regional payments and takes account of modulation and exchange rates.
NFU advisors will be on hand at the stand to discuss the implications of the new system and specific queries.
“We‘ve found farmers find the calculator a very useful tool and use it as the basis to start to build plans around how their businesses might adapt,” said chief arable advisor Paul Ibbott.
Information on the diffuse pollution consultation, soils, waste and Crop Protection Management Plans will also be available on the NFU stand.
The NFU‘s Ready Reckoner is also available on its website.
