Harrison & Hetherington’s final sale of 2012 saw a small show of cast cows go under the hammer on Friday (28 December). A British Blue commanded the top price of 165.5p/kg, with a Limousin fetching £1,206.51 gross.

A good-quality entry of 1,315 lambs resulted in a 7p/kg increase in average prices compared with the previous week, with all stock levelling at 164.57p/kg, or an SQQ average of 170.27p/kg. A Dutch Texel cross took the top price of the day, at £85.80, with a pen of 18 Beltex crosses peaking at 214.9p/kg. Suffolks fetched up to £76.80, with Greyfaces up to £71.80, Charollais to £70.80 and North Country Cheviots peaking at £70.30 apiece. Swaledales sold to £50.80.
