Single payment entitlements increasing

Farmers who need to buy extra single payment entitlements for 2009 claims are reminded they have until 2 April 2009 to do so.

“Trade in the last week has picked up significantly with hectares of entitlement being sold daily,” trader George Paton of WebbPaton said. “Prices are very similar to last year’s due to the weakening of the pound against the euro topping up the unexhausted value between 2009 to 2012.”

Area-only entitlement was selling at £130/ha and €300 entitlement at £230/ha, he said.
