Stonegate expands into Wales
The UK’s second largest packer, Stonegate, has acquired specialist free-range and organic egg business Farmhouse Freedom Eggs for an undisclosed sum.
Farmhouse Freedom Eggs is situated on the outskirts of Usk in Wales and also produces hard-boiled eggs, mayonnaise and liquid egg.
Commenting on the acquisition, Pam Corbett, managing director of Stonegate said it would significantly strengthen the company’s presence in Wales and enhance its offering to retail and food service customers.
Farmhouse Freedom Eggs will continue to be run as a stand-alone business within Stonegate, retaining its own corporate identity and name.
Stonegate has confirmed that Gerry Tuffs, the founder and managing director of Farmhouse Freedom Eggs will continue to be involved in the business.
“Joining the Stonegate group will cement the business growth achieved at Farmhouse Freedom Eggs over the last three years and enable our growth to continue,” said Mr Tuffs. “This is a fantastic opportunity for the business, which will benefit both our customers and employees alike. Our joint expertise will enable us to better capitalise on the opportunities ahead.”
The acquisition follows a number of significant developments for the Stonegate business, including the launch of a new marketing and advertising campaign for Clarence Court, a leading supplier of specialty eggs and egg products.
