FW’s livestock desk seeks a new editor
Farmers Weekly’s livestock desk is looking for a new editor to drive the creation of innovative, top-quality web and print content that farmers love.
Responsibilities include writing, editing and commissioning a range of stories – from major show and sales reports to farm case studies and news – as well as managing a team of passionate staff and freelance journalists.
Outgoing livestock editor Sarah Alderton says the job will suit someone who enjoys working in an ever-changing environment.

“No day is the same on the livestock desk. One day you can be out on farm interviewing a farmer on a technical livestock issue and the next you could be working with partners on an event or project.
“However, what is of utmost importance is the ability to understand what matters to farmers, so they can make content resonate with the audience,” she adds.
This role is based in our Sutton, Surrey, office, and will involve travel in the UK and abroad.
Key requirements:
- Farming background/agricultural qualification
- Ability to write well, generate stories and develop contacts
- Experience/confidence to manage people
- Strong time management and organisational skills
