Cereals 2012 new kit: Willow Farm Machinery

One of two new products on the Willow Farm Machinery stand was the Pentasem drill from French manufacturer Carre.

The drill has been developed alongside Sulky, which means it gets a Sulky-built hopper, metering system and automatic distribution system.

Below the 1,700-litre hopper are tines fitted in five staggered rows to improve trash flow through the machine. The tines are straighter, too, which helps to reduce the bouncing that might be experienced over heavier soils.

The folding wings can be set either to follow the contours of the ground to improve seed depth consistency, or held rigid. Power requirement extends from 100hp for the rigid 3m, 24 row version up to 160hp for the 6m drill with 40 rows. The on-farm cost of the Carre Pentasem is ÂŁ22,500.
