Pottinger has decided to put more focus on building machinery for mid-sized farmers, who it reckons are buying more new kit than ever. AD plants are the big driver, and taking the tractor driving back in-house means farmers can get maize in the ground at the prime time, rather than thumb-twiddling and waiting for the contractor to do it.

The Austrians’ latest option is the Multiline – a trailed combination of the Terradisc cultivator and a box or pneumatic drill. The pair can be separated in just 15 minutes and the drill can also be lifted 600mm out of work while the discs stay in the dirt.

Front-running, scalloped discs rip the topsoil and are followed by tines and a rubber ring packer. The 1,000-litre box drill is likely to be the most popular option on the back, but more expensive air drills can also be specced.

The combination of 3m disc harrow and box drill needs at least 130hp on the front and you’ll have to scribble a £41,305 cheque if you fancy it.
