Livestock 2014: Massey Ferguson bets on two-wheel drive 5600-series

Massey Ferguson was one of several tractor manufacturers showing its line-up of lower-horsepowered kit at the show, and it reckons two-wheel drive tractors are making something of a comeback.

On the stand it had the biggest of its three-model 5600-series – a Sisu-powered thee-pot offering 110hp through its basic Dyna-4 transmission.

It gets the same spacious cab as the standard 5600-series, but has the added bonus of tight two-wheel drive turning. Massey says 65% of its 5600-series get a front loader from new, so hydraulic pump capacity is important – the 5610 can push out 58 litres/min.
