ARTISTS IN north Wales are planning a photographic exhibition featuring the UK‘s best known range of livestock trailers.

Corwen Creative Arts Group in Denbighshire is looking for imaginative pictures of Ifor Williams trailers, which are manufactured in the county.

Mike Coates, a spokesman for the organisers, says that placing a functional object like a farm trailer in the right setting, such as in a field of sunflowers, can create stunningly beautiful compositions.

He hopes that some people who use the trailers in unusual ways, like carrying equipment for the Arsenal and the England Ladies rugby teams, or the kit used by a magician, will be inspired to contribute.

Andrew Reece-Jones, the company‘s design engineering manager, admits to being surprised, but delighted, by the project.

“We pride ourselves on producing well-designed, well-built trailers and horseboxes, but until now I don‘t think anyone at Ifor Williams thought of them as being artistic.”

The exhibition, which is scheduled to be staged at Oriel Corwen in the new year will also showcase the work of Catrin Hayward, a photography student who has been given permission to take pictures on the factory’s assembly floor.
