Farmers plan Land’s End to John O’Groats charity bike ride
© Adobe Stock Two Midlands farmers are preparing to cycle 1,000 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats in May 2026 to raise funds for two charities.
Turkey farmer Rod Adlington and arable farmer Guy Minshull are organising the 10-day challenge.
This will see riders cover about 100 miles a day to raise money for Get A-Head and Meningitis Now.

The pair previously rowed 3,200 miles across the Atlantic in 2024, raising more than £150,000 for the charities.
They are now encouraging others to take part in the latest fundraising effort.
“This is a charity challenge, and we’re looking for more competitors to sign up and get involved,” says Rod.
“We’ve already got a team of seven, with riders joining us from all walks of life and from right across the country, but the bigger the contingent of riders, the better.”

Rod’s children, Toby and Lily, will be joining the challenge alongside a few keen farmers.
“We have Mark Parker, a mixed farmer from outside Banbury.
“He’s not a cyclist either! He’s getting his bike out of the barn and dusting it off like many of us,” says Rod.
Rod is fundraising in memory of his son Barney, who died from meningitis in 2005 when he was three years old.
“We’ve created an outstandingly beautiful route, keeping to quieter country roads and taking in some fantastic scenery along the way,” Rod says.
Danni Heath, director of Get A-Head, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Rod and Guy for their continued support.”
