Farmers raise over £10,000 for FCN at FW Awards night

Farmers and industry leaders dug deep for a good cause at the Farmers Weekly Awards, raising more than £10,000 for the Farming Community Network (FCN).
More than 1,100 guests gathered at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on Thursday 3 October to celebrate the best in British agriculture – and they showed their support for the vital work FCN carries out across the UK.
While some digital donations are still being counted, the total raised on the night has already exceeded £10,000.

Speaking at the event, Georgina Lamb, FCN’s senior partnerships manager, highlighted both the challenges and opportunities facing the farming sector.
“I stand here as a fellow farmer that understands the many challenges our industry faces, but also recognise the amazing opportunities agriculture and farming life have to offer,” she said.
“We only have to look around this room to see proof of excellence and success.”
She added that FCN’s team – made up of staff, trustees, and volunteers – are deeply rooted in the farming world.
“We really do get it. We will champion your victories, be a critical friend in difficult times, and walk with anyone in the farming community 365 days a year. Today, probably more than ever, our support is needed.”
A prize draw on the night helped drive donations, with guests encouraged to contribute via envelopes on their table – though Georgina jokingly reminded the room, “as a true northerner I have to say that cash is king!”
She closed by thanking Farmers Weekly and the Mark Allen Group for the opportunity and wished all nominees the best of luck, adding with a smile: “If you don’t quite win, you’ve got the FCN number if you need us!”
‘Truly amazing’ response
Alex Phillimore, FCN’s head of communications and development, said the response from attendees was “a truly amazing” show of generosity.
“The Awards were truly inspiring and FCN is honoured to have been the chosen charity, and to have been given the platform to show our new video and for Georgina to give her speech,” he added.
FCN provides pastoral and practical support to farmers and their families during challenging times.
