Photo of the Week: Drone captures Norfolk barley harvest
We head over to Norfolk this week for our photo pick and Ropa and Sons’ winter barley harvest – driving the combine is Bob Roper.
They reported the moisture content as between 13.4 to 15.1, and an average yield coming off the combine.
So far, they are pleased with the harvest and say the weather has been good, despite the rather threatening sky in the picture.
The photo was captured by photography enthusiast Luke Norton, who is particularly interested in drone and farming photography.
Luke is proud of the UK’s farmers, he says: “What makes me interested in the farming is to see how our food is produced, and how hard these farmers work and what they actually have to go through to put food on our tables.
“It brings a smile to my face to see them getting on, and I owe them a massive thanks for letting me come down to photograph and video them while they are working.”
Luke has a seven-year-old son called Harrison, who loves accompanying his dad on photography trips to see the big machines working in the fields.
You can upload your harvest photos to our Harvest 2024 gallery, and be in with a chance of featuring on the cover of Farmers Weekly magazine.
Or if you have a general photo of farming you can add it to our Farmlife Framed gallery.
