Photo of the Week: Farm cat Jasper John poses on new tractor
Cats have a knack of choosing the best places to sleep, as farm cat Jasper John (love the name!) seeks out a warm spot on the farm’s newest tractor – a New Holland T7.245.
Linzi Bradly took the photo on the dairy and arable farm, Southfield Farm in Norton St Philip, Somerset.
Jasper John was a feral farm kitten but decided after just three days that he should become a pampered pet instead.

He hasn’t lost his wild side, though, and does his job of hunting vermin on the farm. Apparently his forte is moles.
Linzi says: “He is a unique character, he’s very needy with me and loves cuddles under my duvet with me (after checking he is free from all dirt!!) and he absolutely loves his food on top of his catches.
“He became best friends with our neighbour’s Bengal cross (Jimi) and you can often see the two of them running through the field opposite the house play fighting or hunting together.
“He’s often spotted prowling around covered in straw or on the lookout for our resident feral, who we have named Tony.”
Linzi has her hands full with a full-time job as a dental nurse as well as helping out on the farm, which is owned by her landlord’s family.
She is new to farming and is currently being trained to drive tractors to help out rolling the fields.
She also helps with feeding the dairy cows and general maintenance of fallen trees around the field.
She says: “I also do the baking of all the cakes and goodies for the boys during those busy times. I would like to try my hand at more and get involved with the silage season.”
The farm team have just finished their first cut silaging and are now planting maize.
We think the farm is very lucky to have Linzi, as is Jasper John.
