Photo of the Week: Sun sets on harvest 2025

As one of the earliest harvests in memory draws to an end in the UK, we thought this image, titled “Strapping on the last load of the night”, was perfect for our photo of the week.

The shot was taken by Donna Ashlee on the family livestock farm, Oak Farm in Kent, which she farms with husband Paul.

The farm runs 475 commercial breeding ewes and has 100 native beef cattle, which are used for conservation grazing on the Kent Downs.

The photo shows the end of a day cutting hay for winter feed for the cattle.

As well as a full-time job as a vice-principal at Brockhill School in Kent, Donna works on the farm at weekends and in the holidays – the school, also has a small farm, of course.
