Photo of the Week: Triplet calf surprise on Lincolnshire farm
Lincolnshire farmers Matt and Susannah Boulton had an unexpected surprise during calving when one of their cows delivered rare triplet calves.
The calves were delivered by caesarean section with the help of LC Farm and Equine Vets after the cow appeared unusually large.

Matt Boulton says: “The cow was huge, but we thought there were two calves.
“When the vets, Latta and Georgia, had safely delivered two calves, to our surprise another set of hooves were found.”
The chances of a triplet delivery is about one in 100,000.
The three youngsters – two heifers and one bull calf – and their mum are all doing well.
The Boultons, who run a small herd of Aberdeen Angus crossed with a Simmental bull, are in their second year of calving.
Alongside farming, the couple run the family business Rase Steels Construction and Civils, based in Market Rasen.
