A farmer’s son from Northern Ireland has taken the top prize in a record-breaking year for Farmers Weekly‘s annual photography competition.
Our 2020 “winner of winners” is Alan Hopps, a dairying adviser from County Armagh who wowed the judges with this Massey Ferguson sunset shot.
Alan bagged himself the £250 cash prize and th glory of being selected out of some 8,500 entries received.
He helps out on the home dairy farm at weekends and enjoy taking pictures in his spare time with a Canon EOS 5D Mk IV.
“I’m shocked that my picture won, but absolutely delighted,” said Alan. “It really is great news in what has been a difficult year for everyone.”
Overall runner up
Taking second place overall and a £150 cash prize is Lorna McNiven from Aberdeenshire, who captured this charming robin dancing and singing on her farm’s tractor.
Overall highly commended
Fell farmer Mary Brough comes in overall third place and scoops the £100 cash prize with her fantastic photo of her two-year-old farm dog Fred.
